Cellar Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
Cellar is a wine cellar app for individuals and households. This policy explains what the app stores and how it is used.
What we collect
- Account: when you sign in with Apple or Google we store the identifier those services give us, your email address if you share it, and a display name. We never see your password.
- Your cellar: the wines, bottle counts, storage locations, purchase details, tastings, notes and photos you add. Members of a shared cellar can see what you add to that cellar; each tasting always shows who wrote it.
- Photos: label photos are read on your device to recognise the wine. A photo leaves your device only when you save it as a bottle's label or bottle photo, and then goes to our server.
- Purchases: when you buy Cellar Plus or an AI bottle pack, Apple sends us a signed record of the purchase (product, date, expiry and transaction number) so we can add it to your cellar. We never see your payment details.
- Diagnostics: standard server logs (request path, status, time). No analytics or advertising trackers.
How it is used
Only to run the app: showing your cellar on your devices, keeping a shared cellar in sync between its members, and suggesting a bottle from what you recorded. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
AI features
Studio bottles, wine details, label checks and tonight's bottle suggestions are made by AI models reached through OpenRouter (which routes to the model makers, such as Anthropic and Google, and to a web search service). For these, our server sends only what describes the wine: its producer, name, vintage, style, region, grapes and bottle size, its label photo and a bottle photo, and for a suggestion the meal you typed. Your name, email address, notes, tastings and other cellar data are never sent. The results are saved with the wine in your cellar.
Where it is stored
Data is stored on servers operated by Vercel and Neon in the United States, encrypted in transit and at rest.
Your choices
- Delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account in the app. Cellars you alone own are deleted with everything in them. In a shared cellar, your tastings stay visible to the other members under a neutral name so their history is not rewritten.
- Export your cellar as a CSV file from the app.
- Leave a shared cellar from its members screen; the owner can also remove members.
Children
Cellar is intended for adults of legal drinking age and is not directed at children.
